Case Study #1 Innovative Solutions

Problem Statement:

A Customer had a need for parts with a complex and hard to manufacture internal drilled hole.  The diameter of the bore to access the feature was only 4.13”, and the requirement on size and location was ±.0005 diameter and .003 True Position.

Solution:

Vecco Engineering was able to retrofit their 5 axis machine with a custom engineered solution that allowed them simulate another axis via a “ram extension” on their machine.  This Engineering solution was designed and we produced prototypes in house on our 3D printing technology.  We were able to produce a full scale replica in 2 weeks and a robust manufacturing design within 4 weeks.  Because of this innovative and rapid prototype solution we were able to deliver the customers complex part, ahead of time and on budget!
